Christmas Parade

The Saturday before Thanksgiving, our town held

its annual Christmas Parade. It's not a big parade,

but fun just the same.

Here are a few pictures of some of the parade:

This is a picture of Main Street, which was refurbished

a few years ago. That's the DJ there on the sidewalk.

Heidi and I went to the parade and stood on the porch

of an old home that is used as a law office.

The panel of three judges was on the porch also.

The gal in the pink jacket was my editor at the paper

for several years. She now works for the town.

Heidi asked me to get a few pictures of the color guard.

These are all officers that she works with at

the police station.

This is a picture of one of our friends that

is a drummer for the high school that Shelly,

Sam and Sue attended. She is the girl on the

far side of the drummers.

The high school that Katie attends has a band too.

It's pretty big for being only a two-year-old school.

The advantage of taking pictures from the porch is that

you get to see over everyone's heads.

The disadvantage is that the tree is in the way,

and some of the people and decorations too.

Like this picture, nice view of the backside of the

blow-up character. I was actually trying to get a

picture of the Shriners and their little go-carts.

The Shriners also had little tricycles to ride.

Santa on one of the antique firetrucks.

Here is one of the modern firetrucks from town.

The fire company is named after a famous yacht,

the Volunteer, that raced in the 1880's.

And Santa brings up the rear of the parade.

Santa came on a nice-looking horse-drawn carriage.
