Brian got his mission call by mail during the first week of June. He had been checking the mailbox daily, anxiously waiting for it to come. So when it did, he wanted to open it immediately. So, he set up a video chat with Sam in Utah, and Michelle, Drew and Isabelle in Virginia. He also had Suzie and Adam on the phone in Texas, and I was on the phone in Dover, at work. Heidi and Katie were here in Delaware with Brian as he opened and read his letter.
This is a video that Sam captured of the video chat and phone calls. You can see Brian on the left, Michelle, Drew and Isabelle on the right and Sam at the bottom. You can hear the rest of us in the audio. The lighting isn't the greatest, but it's a neat video with everyone in it.
Brian is going to the California Santa Rosa Mission. He reports to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah on August 26. His mission area includes the city of Santa Rosa (just north of the Bay Area and San Francisco) up to the Oregon border. That is wonderful country with the beautiful northern California coast, redwood forests and the coastal mountains. It also includes some of the delta area and Central Valley of central California up to the Sacramento area. He will have a great mission in that area.
It is a vast area that we have visited and camped in several times over the years when we lived in northern California. In fact Brian (and all the kids) were born in California, in Placerville, which is 40 miles east of Sacramento. Brian will be west and north of Sacramento.
Way to go Brian!
Woo hoo Brian. So, what is the count down for this one?
