Easter

We had a good time  preparing for Easter by dying eggs, making cookies and cakes and doing other activities. Easter Sunday was real nice and after church we had an egg hunt and a great dinner. After dinner it was time for the Shades to pack up and head back home, as Drew had school the next day.

Shelly and Katie made these great-tasting peanut butter cookies. They also made a peanut butter filling to put on the backside of the cookies and sandwiched them together. Yum! Triple the taste!

Heidi worked several hours sewing these dresses (and some T-shirt dresses) for the girls. Isabelle picked out the fabric and as you can see, she is admiring her dress.

Time to dye eggs. I think Katie was as excited as Isabelle was to dye eggs. It's been a long time since we dyed eggs and had an egg hunt at our house. Isabelle is getting all the bowls ready for dying eggs in this picture.

Shelly even got into the action. Dying eggs was purposely done while Aubree was napping. If not, I think everybody and everything except the eggs would have been dyed.

While the eggs were drying, we went outside to take some pictures of the cherry tree so we could send them to Sam. Sam gave this tree to Heidi for Mother's Day several years ago.

The birds were out of food, so we had to fill the bird feeders with seed.

The Easter Bunny hid one of the eggs in an old abandoned bird's nest in one of the apple trees.

It looks like someone found the egg in the bird's nest.

One egg was in the mail box that is in the back yard by the faucet. That's where all the garden hand tools and hose gadgets are kept.

Katie even found an egg. She is wearing the Philadelphia Phillies baseball shirt she got for Easter.

... and another egg on the car seat of the battery-operated car. Even though Drew was with us for a few days, the only picture I got of him was of his legs in the background of this picture. 

They found them all.

Our friend Robin spent some of Easter Sunday with us and brought the girls some gifts. Heidi gave Robin that pot of tulips in the bottom right of the picture.

Heidi made this bunny cake for our Easter dessert. It is made with coconut on white icing and decorated with jelly beans for the eyes, nose and tie. The whiskers and mouth are pieces of licorice.

It didn't take long for the girls to tear open their Easter baskets.

We had a full day of activities for Easter. The weather was gorgeous, until later in the evening when we had a great thunderstorm with lots of lightning and thunder to cap off the day.
