January 26-27 Snowstorm

Tuesday we had another snowstorm in our area.

We got some ice and about an inch or two of snow

in the morning- just in time to make the commute

a real mess for everyone.

After dinner it began to rain, thunder, then more ice.

Shortly after the ice began, it started

to snow. It snowed real hard for several hours and

the storm left just after midnight.

I took a few snow pictures on Wednesday morning.

The snow this time was real wet and heavy.

It stuck to everything.

This is a picture of the Bradford pear tree

just off the corner of the deck.

This picture is of the flowering cherry tree

off the other corner of the deck.

The heavy snow stuck to powerlines and pulled

them down all over the East Coast.

We were fortunate, without any problems.

Heidi had one of the people from the police department

give her a ride to work.

Good thing she did- after opening the garage door,

we were faced with a 15 inch snow drift.

We got about 8 1/2 to 9 inches of heavy, wet snow.

I don't think these solar lights will

be working for a while.

Like I said, the snow was very wet and heavy.

The berm the snowplow left across the end of

the driveway was like cement. That took a lot

of hacking and slicing with the snow shovel

to break up the snow into small enough pieces to

move out of the way. My neighbor let me use his

snowblower, but even with that it was very hard

work and tiring. I paid for all that work today

by having a very sore back. Let's just say that the

heating pad came in very handy today!
