In mid-November the Shades came to visit, say goodbye to Katie as she left on her mission, and to share Thanksgiving with us. Here are some pictures of all the things we did while they were here:
Playing with Kinzie.
Swinging Aubree. (Never-mind the lack of hair).
Aubree playing ponies.
Sneaking up on Shelly for a picture.
Kenzie has her voice-plug (pacifier) and her blanket- she is set.
Aubree looking grumpy in the morning...
... So I helped her smile by placing crayons in various places.
Isabelle drawing in the morning.
Kenzie helping Heidi make breakfast.
Yeah, I got this!
Yeah, squirt cream- breakfast of champions.
Iz setting the table.
Kenzie riding the rocking horse while Drew reads to her sister. The rocking horse was my dads when he was a toddler.
One of Shelly's girlfriends gave her this shirt.
Yum! Breakfast of crepes.
Kinzie reading books.
Watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thanksgiving morning.
Time to play outside on the swings.

A shot of all three girls on the swings.
Aubree munching on the famous Menasco Thanksgiving appetizer tray.
Kinzie loves all the snack food.
At first, Kinzie didn't know what to think when I put an olive on her finger.
But it didn't take long for her to get into it.
Heidi grossing out Aubree with the turkey.
Making turkey cookies.
Both Iz and Aubs helped make the cookies.
The finished turkey cookies.
They made lots of them.
Kinzie was more interested in the snacks.
Everybody watching the turkey cookies being made, except Kinzie. She's still into the snack food.
Playing records.
I brought home some kid-sized projects for the two older girls to make. We're making tool boxes.
Helping Iz make her toolbox.
She's got her hammer and ready to roll.
Helping Aubs glue her toolbox.
The finished project.
Aubree making her toolbox.
Helping Aubs with the hammer.
I think she likes the hammer.
She's got this thing down.
Almost done.
All done.
Time for painting.
Concentrating on painting their toolboxes.
Meanwhile Kenzie was busy rearranging her mom's purse.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, Heidi and I took the girls for the day and started by going to the Home Depot where I work and attended the Kid's Workshop. They were making sailboats. Isabelle is hammering hers together.
Aubree hammering her sailboat together.
Putting the sails on.
All done.
Aubree beginning to paint her sailboat.
Painting the sailboats. Notice Heidi is keeping her distance while Aubree has a paintbrush in her hand.
The girls found some rocking horses for sale to ride on in the electrical isle.
Next, we drove over to Friendly's restaurant for lunch and ice cream.
Waiting for our food.

Kinzie eating a lemon slice.
Aubree and her ice cream.
Isabelle ready to dive into her ice cream.
Kinzie fooling around with her bib.
After lunch, we drove over to a little town in Maryland to see Santa.
Look! There he is.
The girls impatiently waiting their turn with Santa.
Aubree telling Santa all that she wants.
Isabelle waiting her turn.
Still waiting her turn.
Kinzie was real talkative with Santa... from a distance.
Isabelle ready to hop on Santa's lap.
Isabelle would not look Santa in the eye, but that didn't keep her from telling him all that she wanted.
When it was Kinzie's turn, she would only stay with grandma and didn't say much.
He gave her a candy cane anyway.
Next we drove down to our favorite tree farm to get our Christmas tree. Isabelle is telling me to choose this tree.
Isabelle resting in an old wooden wheelbarrow.
We found our tree.
Timber! There really is a guy behind the tree cutting it down.
Ready to take home.
And the whole time Kinzie was napping.
Sitting in the trunk waiting for Papa to load the tree.
The girls playing with the Christmas lawn decorations while I load the tree.
The tree all stuffed into the trunk.
After we got the tree home, we cleaned it and put it in the stand. Then it was time to bring it inside and decorate it.
Aubree thinking she is going to help put the lights on.
Lights are on, now time for garland.
The girls playing in the garland.
Helping Kinzie put ornaments on the tree.
Isabelle hanging an ornament.
Kinzie and her tummy putting an ornament on the tree.
Grandma passing out the ornaments for the girls to put on the tree.
We had a fun and busy day with the girls. We also had a fun time with the Shades while they visited us for Thanksgiving.
The End
